Yes, I am aware that Starbucks was used as an excuse by Mr. Emerton to draw attention to his campaign, hence my later post Cal Poly Pomona is not Destroying Books for a Starbucks.

Most of the items discarded by the library were duplicate books and periodicals and outdated editions, the rest are available either electronically or via the Link+ interlibrary system.

Starbucks is not even remotely related to the issue, they are using Starbucks as an excuse. Even if Starbucks wasn't going to be part of the library, they would have still thrown out the books.

If I had a say, I would have made those books available online then throw them away.

[...] It is with much regret that I apologize for my misguided remarks made towards the Cal Poly Pomona library. Unfortunately, the press is not covering both sides of the story and thus clouding the truth. Most importantly, Cal Poly Pomona is not destroying books for a full-service Starbucks Coffee.
