Most of the items discarded by the library were duplicate books and periodicals and outdated editions, the rest are available either electronically or via the Link+ interlibrary system. Yes, I am aware that Starbucks was used as an excuse by Mr. Emerton to draw attention to his campaign, hence my later post Cal Poly Pomona is not Destroying Books for a Starbucks.

Most of the items discarded by the library were duplicate books and periodicals and outdated editions, the rest are available either electronically or via the Link+ interlibrary system.

Even if Starbucks wasn't going to be part of the library, they would have still thrown out the books. If I had a say, I would have made those books available online then throw them away.
